We're not dead!
That's right! We're actually alive!
ATP Development sort of disappeared over the summer because, well... who wants to work during the summer? Pfft.
Seriously though, we have been working... a little.
Let's go down the list:
Airsoft 8k: Okay, so everyone knows that this game sucks beyond belief, but every time I read Lummox JR's review of it in the Cartridge Classic '05 results page, I get inspired and really want to finish it. Nothing has been worked on so far, but it's a rather simple game and I plan to get around to it on a long weekend or something to that effect.
Altricosm: We have begun working Altricosm from scratch. I've learned a lot and have bettered my programming skills since we first began Altricosm a year and a half ago, and the old version was programmed very inefficiently. We decided it was best to pretty much scrap everything and start over, and so far that seems to be a good idea. The code is a lot more organized and clean, as well as more efficient. As much as I'd like to have this out soon, I can't imagine it coming out earlier than March or April.
Death Race: Uhm, yeah. There's not much to Death Race. I just made it for my research paper. I suppose if anyone has some ideas or suggestions or anything like that, just give a shout.
Evasion: Evasion is pretty much complete. Next time ATP gets together we'll toss around some ideas and see if there's anything interesting we could do, but for the most part, it's complete. If you have any ideas or suggestions, again, please just leave 'em here or in the forum.
Etraterrestrial Terror: This game was to be further expanded into a game called Space Wars. It hasn't gone anywhere yet really, but we plan to hammer that out soon as well.
Fallout: This was a quick game for the original two button contest, and was also submitted for the Cartridge Classic '05. It's a simple concept and it's not too exciting. Any ideas for it? Let us know.
Kill Carts: Another quick game for the two button contest. It's not bad, and entertaining in small doses. The music is pretty awesome. Check it out sometime. We'll release a map maker for it, perhaps.
Ninja Reprise: The winner of the Game in a Day of 2006! Man, ATP Development actually won something? Holy crap! It's a fun game with a simple concept, and it's completely factual and true: Ninjas own pirates.
Ninja's Network: Well, I really just need to finish the map maker and then the map load system for it. The games basically complete. We'll see what we can do with it next time we hang out.
Shaded Seasons: It basically used a copy of the old Altricosm code, and is therefor slow and buggy. Once Altricosm is finished, we may go back and rework SS, but for the time being, it is destined to fail as all of our games have.
So you can see we've got a lot of projects we're [sort of] working on. The biggest hurdle in our development is our newfound hobby of making potato cannons. Let me just say, launching potatoes faster than the speed of sound is pretty cool.
In a last couple words, I'd just like to remind everyone of the upcoming Game in a Day challenge this Saturday. In addition to that, check out IainPeregrine's Renga project.
Take care until next time!
